Hello?

Dear lord, what has happened to this site? It used to be simple and eye-pleasing, now there is so much clutter it took me 10 minutes just to figure out how to post.

Rant aside, I am not really sure why I am posting the first place, I got a random e-mail from Xanga saying it misses me (and I miss it).

Umm, I escaped Iowa and I've lived in Minneapolis for 1.5 years now. I  have a nice job, car and apartment. Other than that, nothing has changed!

Hehe

I forgot about this once again, although nearly a year probably sets the record. Does anyone still use this? I haven't got any messages from xanga in ages, so I assume that gmail thinks its spam or its dead to everyone.

Meeps!

Wow...

So here I am sitting at work trying to think of something to do when I remembered about this. 2 and a half months later. Anyways, I will try and sum up everything that has happened since I so rudely departed.

Right now I am homeless and living with my friends Mika and Bob for a couple days. I am moving to a place that is only a 3 minute walk from campus (Iowa/Van Buren) and is cheaper than my former residence. Plus I will be living with 8 other people in 1 little apartment complex. I am very excited, to say the least.

This summer both sucked and was awesome. Both of my classes proved to be much harder than I thought. I am glad it is winding down. I had my final yesterday (the day I moved out), so for now I am free.

I have been playing in a frisbee summer league since the end of May and it has been a blast. I have made alot of new friends, reacquired my frisbee skills that I lost when I left Luther and am currently in great shape. It's nice to be good at something again.

In 1.5 weeks I will be traveling out west for 2 weeks and just getting away from it all before the next semester starts. I hope to hit Portland and Denver and Seattle with 4 other people, but I would be content with just seeing the mountains and staying away from Iowa Shitty for a week+.

I know this is condensed, but I don't have much time to write because I have to get things done and I don't have a computer right now. So, take kare kind kiddies and don't die!

Ack!

Hi everyone! I can honestly say I completely forgot about Xanga again, it was only after my desire to write a list of favourites again that I remembered about here. Here is a sum of recent events:

I just finished finals yesterday. This was the hardest semester I ever took, but the results are very pleasing. I managed to get alot of annoying classes out of the way, so hopefully it pays off in the long run.

Summer doesn't really come for me this year. I am taking a 3 week class starting Monday, its 3 hours a day everyday. It's going to be the most upper level Econ class I have ever took, so I fear the worst. Immediately after that is over, I am taking an 8 week Finance class. It's at an intro level and only 2 days a week, so I could really care less about it. Between work and playing intramural frisbee, hopefully I can find the time.

I could talk more, but I won't so I have more of a reason to come back. All these e-mail have been going to junk mail, so I have reminders again. So anyway, take kare kind kiddies and don't die!

(This song is dedicated to Steph. Methinks Fiona Apple parties are in order next year because I adore her so...)

TORNADO!

The most incredible night of my life happened last night. At least 3 funnel clouds and 2 tornadoes hit downtown Iowa City causing millions of damage and putting numerous people on the streets.

At first it only rained and got windy, typical storm. Then it started to hail. Not just pebbles, the size of golf balls. Then the rain/hail rain stopped, the wind stopped and everything became eerily silent. That's when I went outside. The scenario was UNBELIEVABLE. The pressure kept on going up and down rapidly and without warning, the temperature rose a dropped by about 5 degrees constantly, the wind continuously shifted directions and I was standing outside watching the clouds twirl all around in different directions. I did not see any tornadoes, but myself and the people with me outside saw at least 3 funnel clouds. The lightning was like a strobe light and there was no thunder.

After all this happened and seemed to be relatively over with, I went downtown to where we saw the funnel clouds. The damage was extraordinary... Part of a new apartment building collapsed, a liquor store suffered heavy damage to the front and back and was being looted, half of the stoplights had crashed onto the ground (I have a cut from when I tripped on one), a 150 year old church was demolished, cars were flipped, glass was shattered and covered the streets, every tree was uprooted, power lines fell down, etc. It was like a war-zone. The best part was that because it was a Thursday night and the bars had to kick everyone out due to gas leaks, the streets were full of drunkards who still had beer and drinks in their hand and were pretty ****ed off.

The National Guard came in, police from neighboring cities and Cedar Rapids came in, every single unit was trying to maintain order, the entire downtown region was being evacuated because of gas leaks, construction trucks were pushing flipped cars off the roads, police were trying to keep people from stealing signs and other random debris, the power was out for 10 hours, etc.

It was an incredible night, I ended up walking for about 4 hours straight. For the first time in 23 years, school at the University of Iowa was cancelled (but I still had to work). Happy Joe's, Dairy Queen, a Dodge Dealership and others were essentially eliminated.

Every single time I said it would never hit us. Boy was I wrong... NO ONE died though, thank goodness.
